TOP 10 Reasons to Mentor

It’s that time of year again! TOP’s, after school mentoring program, starts back in full swing on September 4th. We are very excited to work with all of the returning mentors and meet all of the new ones. At Tuscaloosa’s One Place, we depend heavily on the generosity of volunteers. We are always looking for new and exciting faces to add to our mentoring program. If you or anyone you know is interesting in participating in this rewarding program, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Emerald Autrey at (205) 462-1000.
“TOP 10 Reasons Why YOU Should Be A Mentor”
1.       You can make a difference, in the life of a child and in our community.
2.       You can lead a better way for a child who may not have direction. Statistics show that children with mentors are less likely to involve themselves in drugs and more likely to continue their education.
3.       It is an opportunity to give back to your community.
4.       Not only will you teach the kids something, they will also teach you.
5.       Mentoring is something you can and should be proud of. It is a very rewarding experience.
6.       Chances are someone helped you get to where you are. This is your chance to “pay it forward” and help someone else get to where they need to be.
7.       It’s a wonderful resume builder!
8.       Mentoring helps build and improve your leadership skills, which are essential to be successful in life.
9.       By spending time with these children, you are creating future mentors.
10.   Mentoring is a chance to expand both your professional and personal networks.
